We Are Evaluating the Communication of the Four Competence Clusters of Nutritional Research

von Diana Mirza · 1. December 2021

Our research institute was commissioned by the German Nutrition Society (DGE) to evaluate the communication of the Competence Clusters of Nutritional Research. The Competence Clusters are a funding measure of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The four clusters are:

  • NutriAct in Berlin/Brandenburg. It researches nutritional strategies for people above 50 years old, to encourage healthy and vital aging.
  • nutriCARD in Halle, Jena and Leipzig. The focus here is on the nutritional prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
  • Diet-Body-Brain in Bonn, which researches the connection between food and neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia.
  • enable in Freising. It researches nutritional strategies for different age groups and develops healthier convenience food.

We are capturing the communication of the four clusters as well as the media coverage about them. Furthermore, we are conducting interviews with experts from the areas of science, politics, industry and media. With this evaluation, we are making a contribution to the optimization of science communication in an area with a big positive potential for society.
