Evaluation of the Regional Television Market in Baden-Württemberg

On behalf of the Landesanstalt für Kommunikation (LFK) in Stuttgart, House of Research examined the regional TV market in Baden-Württemberg in the years 2020, 2021, and 2023. This biennial study is based on a representative population survey with a sample size of approximately 7,000 interviews per year. In addition to providing a valid measurement of channel reach, it also serves the qualitative evaluation of regional television broadcasters tasked by the LFK with the production and dissemination of regional news and information, for which they receive funding (further information).

A mixed-methods design was employed, comprising a telephone sample and a supplementary online sample. To address the undercoverage of individuals without a landline (mobile-only users), both landline and mobile numbers were included (dual-frame approach). Furthermore, the online survey optimised the coverage of younger population groups in particular.
