Evaluation of “Dem Leben auf der Spur” Sex Education Media Package

On behalf of the Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA), House of Research conducted a scientific evaluation of the “Dem Leben auf der Spur” educational box that is used to teach primary school-aged children about sexuality. It is one of the BZgA’s most highly requested collection of materials. As part of the evaluation, general and special education teachers were surveyed about the box contents, their experiences using it in a classroom setting and the topic of sex education in general.

Specifically, House of Research’s responsibilities included:

• designing and implementing a quantitative online survey of general and special education teachers, including recruitment and comprehensive field management, as well as analysis of the results
• carrying out qualitative focus group interviews with general and special education teachers

The results were presented in a report and serve as a basis for further development of the educational box. Additionally, the study results on sex education in primary and special needs schools were published in co-authorship with the project management at BZgA.
